It could be iron or painted brass. I know those were both popular during this time period.

It is very heavy though and weighs a little over 10 lbs. There is one bulb on the inside that illuminates the colors and makes a great pattern through the grates. There are some scratches and spots that appear to be rubbed off areas, I don't think it's rust. It is 19.5 inches tall from the base to the tip of the ornate leaves.

Each side is 7 inches.
