A mid-century custom made 14hx12w cylindrical stained glass shade in exc condition-9-10 lbs approx.. Has one small tight crack hard to see in one top transparent squares top left corner-no glass loss, type crack is the best to have. Will stay as is indefinitely. This is a lamp shade or a hanging lamp depending which way you want to use it.

To be a hanging lamp you need to install a socket with a ring and chain with the proper inbetween hardware like a threaded hollow 3/8 o. Brass pipe to position the ceramic socket where you want it inside. Attractive chain wire-about 13 feet loops from the open decorative eyehook in a beam to the top corner of a wall-on an open eyehook down to an outlet -plug it in and a switch inline near the outlet allows an on and off control. No wiring into an electrical box. Can move to a new beam anywhere in home in less than an hour.

Just find the middle of the beam. Need a drill that will turn a drill bit to make a whole that is as wide as the eyehook take away in your mind the threads leaving only the solid shaft.

That's the size you look for-you can hold the drill bit over the threads on the eyehook and only the threads should be sticking out from behind the drill laid on top of it.. When you turn the hook in there should be resistance but not stopping resistance. A small screw driver can do it easily using it as a lever bar to rotate the eyehook. When done pull on it hard with a piece of rope or chain attached. Done right it will hold any shade and more.
